Change Requests are the official entry point into, and reason for being of, the perform integrated change control process.

Integrated change control is one of the absolute keys to proper project management because it provides a level of assurance that no deviations from current plans (scope, schedule and cost in particular) are undertaken prior to methodically reviewing the consequences.


Of the 47 project processes;

Change requests are formal written documents to be reviewed and may include;

  • Corrective actions.
  • Preventive actions.
  • Defect repairs.
  • Enhancements.

Monitor and control project work process inputs are critical to understand;

  • Work Performance Information input is an output of all other knowledge area M&C processes.
  • Cost and Schedule forecasts are also an input from corresponding M&C process outputs.

Therefore planned results are compared with actual results in this process.  Possible CR outcomes include expand, adjust or reduce;

  • Project/product scope.
  • Quality requirements.
